Title Assistant Professor/Chair of Glass

Internationally recognized glass artist Marc Petrovic '91 is an assistant professor and chair of the Cleveland Institute of Art's Glass Department.
Widely regarded as a leader in the glass art field, Petrovic has been a full-time studio artist for 23 years. His work is held in numerous private collections and in public collections including the Museum of Arts and Design, New York City; Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, New York; Niijima Museum of Glass, Tokyo; The Mint Museum, Charlotte; Racine Art Museum; Tacoma Museum of Glass, and many others.
He is represented by Heller Gallery in New York City; Thomas R. Riley Gallery in Cleveland; Habatat Galleries in Royal Oak, Michigan; Imago Gallery in Palm Desert, California; Reynolds Gallery in Richmond, Virginia;Dane Gallery on Nantucket in Massachusetts; eo Art Lab in Chester, Connecticut; and Admiralty Gallery in Vero Beach, Florida.

Glass artist Kim was born in South Korea. He received his Masters of Fine Art from Kent State University in 2008. He has focused on the kilncasting techniques. He works with Stryrofoam to reveal the hidden value inherent within a particular object.
Many of his glass works have been featured in several influential art exhibitions: “SOFA (the International Expositions of Sculpture Objects & Functional Art) Chicago 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009”, “SOFA Santafe 2011” , Art Palm Beach 2014, 2013, FL, and “BIGG: Breakthrough Ideas in Global Glass” (2009) at Hawk Galleries in OHIO where he was placed as the Best in Show. He has also selected as a finalist in several art competitions: the “NICHE Awards” (2013,2012, 2009, 2007), “2009 MFA Exhibition Competition” at Urban Glass in New York, and “e-merge” (2010, 2008) at Bullseye Glass in Portland. The Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass named him a “Rising Star” at the 2011 GlassWeekend Biennial. Also his art works have been featured in some art journal articles including “Recent Important Acquisitions” New Glass Review34 (2013), “Rader: Packaging Itself,” American Craft (2010), and “The Best Work from the Top Glass Programs,” The Urban Glass Art Quarterly (2007). his artwork has been shown at international Museums included in Cleveland Museum of Art, Muskegon Museum of Art, Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, Akron Art Museum, Ohio Craft Museum, Zanesville museum of art, Kwacheon National Museum of Contemporary Art, South Korea, and is included in the permanent collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art.expand collapse
