Dom is a professor at the Cleveland Institute of Art in the Illustration Department. He is also a freelance illustrator based out Cleveland, Ohio.
Dom began his career working at American Greetings. He later worked as an Illustrator for Ray Domingo at E & R Graphics, an illustration studio represented by Cullen Rapp & Associates based in New York City. Following his employment with E & R he owned the Art Plant Inc., an illustration studio. In 1980 he became an instructor at the Cleveland Institute of Art and in addition to teaching, continues to freelance up to present time.
Dom’s Art was recently published in American Illustration XX. He has been recognized with awards from the Advertising Club of New York (Andy Award), Cleveland Society of Communication Arts, Art Directors Club of Cincinnati, Erie Ad Club`s Advertising Awards of Excellence and the American Greetings Spring Show. As an illustrator, he has produced art for advertising and product illustration, editorial illustration, children`s books, greeting cards, ad packaging and logo design.
Dom’s clients include: American Greetings, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, The Cleveland Plain Dealer, Columbus Dispatch, Harcourt Brace & Jovanvich, Moen, Tremco, Ohio Business Magazine, Cleveland Magazine, Northern Ohio Live, Geauga Lake, Penton Publishing, Parents Magazine and Oberlin College.expand collapse

John's love of art began at his high school in Midland Pennsylvania. By the age of seventeen he had already won many local awards and produced commissioned work for the Crucible Steel Company. John accepted a scholarship from the Art Students League in New York City. His career began at Pitt Studios in Cleveland and then he was recruited by Maby Trousdell in Atlanta, Georgia. He moved back to Cleveland in 1972 to freelance in advertising, packaging, illustration and graphic art while teaching illustration at Kent State University. John's numerous awards include Art Directors Club, The Cleveland Society of Communicating Arts, Erie Advertising Club and the Advertising Club of New York. Recently John was the featured speaker at the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center where he was honored for his career in applied arts. John has been a professor of illustration at the Cleveland Institute of Art for over 30 years. He feels a profound responsibility to pass on a high standard of art education to all his students.expand collapse

Larry O’Neal is a graphic designer/illustrator with a unique professional history that allows him to provide his students with a unique look at the graphic design field. Prior to joining the faculty at CIA 4 years ago, Larry spent the majority of his career working in regional ad agencies such as Carr-Liggett (now Liggett-Stashower), Wyse Advertising and Stern Advertising. At Stern (a former subsidiary of TBWA Worldwide Inc.), he served 14 years as Executive Vice President / Executive Creative Director. In addition to supervising a creative staff of 24, he served on the Executive Committee and headed the New Business Task Force. In addition to teaching at CIA, he operates a graphic design firm in Chagrin Falls, OH.

After graduating with a BFA degree from the Cleveland Institute of Art, James Groman was hired by American Greetings: 'Those Characters from Cleveland'(TCFC), where he worked on the development of brands like Care Bears, Popples, Madballs, Barnyard Commandoes, My Pet Monster, and Ring Raiders.
After TCFC, James established his own freelance studio providing design, sculpting and prototyping on products based on Star Wars, Harry Potter, Stretch Armstrong, Godzilla, Universal Monsters, G.I. Joe, Jonny Quest, and various Marvel and DC comics characters for companies, such as, Kenner/Hasbro, Cap Toys, Galoob, Ertl Collectables, Playing Mantis, and Polar Lights. Before coming back to American Greetings in 2005, James worked for 4 years at Hasbro Toys Playskool group on their Star Wars, Go Bots/Transformers, Major Powers and Cool Crew brands. Now back at American Greetings Properties, James works on brands like Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake and Madballs, as well as new ventures, such as: Sushi Pack and Tinpo for CBS; Twisted Whiskers, Maryoku Yummy for The Hub Network; Packages from Planet X for Disney XD; and the awesome and exciting: Beast Battalion!
Most recently James travelled to New Zealand to work with Richard Taylor and the team at Weta Workshop on the film, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. James is also the Art Director on the new Care Bears CG animated TV series on the Hub Network.expand collapse

Lincoln Adams is a Gund Award winner and alumnus of the Cleveland Institute of Art who has worked for 15 years as an illustrator, storyboard artist and designer. His projects have included magazines, television shows, character design, book covers, and greeting cards. Lincoln was selected to the 47th Annual Society of Illustrators West Show in Los Angeles. Recently he finished work on the popular animated shows, Veggie Tales and Doc McStuffins. He is also currently working with Disney sculptor and CIA alumnus Zack Petroc on a sculpted novel, and has completed his fourth picture book. Additionally, he teaches at CIA as an Adjunct Professor in the Illustration and Animation departments and in the Continuing Education Department. Lincoln resides in Peninsula with his wife, two daughters, and son.expand collapse

James Mravec is an award winning illustrator who has worked locally for American Greetings doing greeting card illustrations and animations. He has also created editorial art for the Plain Dealer. Nationally, he worked with Creative Expressions producing artwork for the paper decor industry as well as Imperial Wallcoverings creating best selling images for wall paper borders. He has also written and digitally illustrated a series of how to draw books for Publications International, LLC.
During his art career, James has also worked on developing interactive media for clients. The Cleveland Museum of Natural History has several kiosks that were art directed by him. The visual design of these kiosks and the programming were all integral parts of the projects. He has also developed animations and interactive sites for Toyota, Weyerhauser and other national clients.
He has been teaching illustration, animation and design courses for fourteen years at several Universities including CIA, Cuyahoga Community College and Kent State University.

Anthony Scalmato is the Department Chair of Animation and the Interim Department Chair of Game Design at the Cleveland Institute of Art. He has created more than a hundred published works which have been viewed on television, web and mobile devices. Before joining CIA, Scalmato worked as a Senior Creative Developer at American Greetings where he provided animations, illustrations and art direction for products that are viewed globally by millions of people every month. His clients include Applebee’s, Disney, Pixar, Sony, UPS, Taylor Swift, Wal-mart, M & M’s, Ferraro Chocolates and many other fortune 500 companies.
In 2011 Scalmato was awarded the American Greetings Chairman’s Award for Creativity and Innovation. He has also received over a dozen “Best Animation” awards from film festivals around the world. In addition to teaching, he continues to work as a freelance artist for many clients and as a contractor for American Greetings.
